might not start like that, but rest assured, they do finish like that! ^_- )

this kind of stories. As for shoujo, well, that's more or less simple...
focusing on the relationships over the action *and* being published on a
shoujo manga magazine / under a shoujo novels publisher name ^^

It's shounen ai, which is why I bought it of course. ^_- But it's been ages since I came across a shounen ai manga that mix in that unique brand of "mad dog" humour I really like in Tokyo Crazy Paradise. The hero of the story, who I shall name H (because it's chinese translated, I don't know the japanese name), is this really muscular guy forced from young to train in some form of martial art. The funny part comes in because H likes to do things which girls are supposed to like. He loves knitting, sewing dolls, cooking and especially gardening. His father beats him up whenever he find H doing girly stuff. But H persists. As a matter of fact, he has a crush on this guy so much so that he wants to become a woman. And then, something happens....If you like Tokyo Crazy Paradise antics, and don't mind shounen ai and fantasy or magic, give this a try. ^_^

It's what I'd call a PWP (Plot? What Plot?) and so at first I hesitated to introduce it. But what the heck, for those who love explicit male-male sex, full of puffs of hot air, barely articulated aahhs and streams of sticky liquids, this manga is a gift from heaven. ;p The story begins with a boy being raped by another. ^^;; Kanzaki Ritsu, the er, one being forced, was a new student and his roommate,Ootori Shuura, was the er, villain as well as the son of yakuza. Shuura was held in fear by most students while the rest rushed to do his bidding. Ritsu was the only one who dared confront Shuura. And Shuura liked his spirit. Anyway, Shuura would force Ritsu every night but he was protective of Ritsu as well and so Ritsu eventually fell in love with him. (Of course! I wouldn't buy it if there's no happy ending. ^_^) If you're looking for meaningful love you wouldn't find it here but the sex scenes occupy about three quarters of the manga. ^_-

Ahh. This is a miracle! It has a good plot as well as enough explicit sex to keep everyone happy. ^_^ There are a few couples in the series (I've only got 1-4 at present.). Volume one is my favourite. You have a young teenage boy whose friend set him up with a blind date who was promised to be older and a beauty. The young man was waiting at the meeting place where a man fell down in front of him and was sent to the hospital. The youth, whose name is Izumi, then picked up the rose which the sick man had been holding. (I think some can guess what's coming.) A handsome older guy addressed Izumi and introduced himself Takamiya Katsura. Izumi thought he had been set up but he went along when Takamiya mentioned horses. They had an enjoyable day, watching and riding horses and dinner at a high class restaurant followed by drinks at bar. Izumi got drunk and Takamiya brought him to a hotel room where he proceeded to strip him and erhem. Izumi awoke during the process but couldn't gather enough coherence to tell Takamiya to stop. At the end of everything, Takamiya said Izumi felt like a virgin to him as he handed Izumi a bundle of money. Oh my gosh! Izumi blew his top and said he wasn't a prositute which stunned Takamiya. Upon clarification, it was found that the blind date changed her mind at the last minute and Izumi's friend couldn't get him in time. Takamiya's blind date, who is also called Izumi, was the sick man who was rushed to the hospital. ^O^ Poor Izumi. Anyway, a love affair evolved from this and of course the two became lovers in the end. Volume 3 (No, there is no typo.) talked about the other Izumi, who is actually the number one of a dating club. About how he found his true love and resigned his job at the dating club. Volume 2 and 4 is about the owner of the dating club who is also Takamiya's friend, Aoe Reiji. Reiji got to know Naoya in a rather unique way. Reiji's jilted lover threw down a flower pot trying to hit him, hit Naoya, who was walking in front, instead. Thus started a rather sweet affair. ^_^
Mangaka: TAKAHASHI Miyuki

I first bought the manga partly because of the mangaka. Some will recognise her as the author of Akuma no mokujiroku (hope I got the title right) another series which I'm collecting. The two characters on the cover look intriguing so I bought one to test. It's now at vol 11 and I'm waiting not so patiently for 12. The story started with this strange girl who transferred to this guy's school. Later he discovered that the "girl" is not a girl but an "angel". Who later turned out not to be an angel. Twisty, right? Not male, nor female. Both angel and devil. The person is a friend of Lucifer who rebelled against God and was banished to hell. He (my personal preference) regretted his action and has ever since wandered the earth in search of a way back home as in h-e-a-v-e-n. He has angel's wings and devil's horn. A lonely paradox. Things get interesting when the human falls in love with the angel-devil and he with the human. The human gave up his family, his friends and chose to wander around with the angel-devil. The "devangel" gave up the chance of heaven for love. Sigh. So tragic and yet so sweet. I seriously cannot begin to guess at the ending. I hope it's a good one.
Mangaka: HIRAI Mari
It's really unusual, not like your usual shounen ai stuff, with more than a hint of bestiality. Ooops, was that the delete key I heard being pressed? ^_- It's about this cat demon (is that right? maybe kitsune is closer?) who have red eyes and golden fur. It's neuter and in the period of becoming male or female (like the one in 11 nin iru), gender being based on the mate it chose. (I think of it as a he, of course. ;p) This cat demon can shape shift into human and the opening pages of the manga show him going up to the most powerful "magician" (is that correct? the chinese translation is different from the japanese convention) and saying he want to have the magician (just remembered! I think it's the same type as Subaru in TB. Omuoyoujin?) 's babies. What an introduction! The omno guy retort that he's not so powerful that he can make a guy pregnant. Kyaaaaaaaaa!! Pant, pant. I would love to see him try. (Stop that! Sorry, guys, it's my evil yaoi twin.) Anyway, the magic guy grew up being rejected, hated and feared because he was the offspring of a man and a fox demon so he refused to have any kids. The cat was fixed on him as his mate because ... maybe I shouldn't spoil it for you. Anyway, I got up to volume 3 and nothing more than kisses (after all the guy is dead set against having offsprings, imagine being half cat demon, one quarter man, one quarter fox demon. Isn't nature wonderful? ;p Sorry. I'm a bit crazy right now) and probably if they do do something, then the cat will become a female then. On a serious note, the story is sweet with a bit of angst. The cat demon is so KAWAII!!! He got attacked by crows because of his golden hair and red eyes!! ^O^ A cat demon scared of birds?! Oh well, no more spoilers and whoever does read this, hope you enjoy it as much as I do. ^_^

cast of characters: 1. SOUMA Izumi -- the main character. The novels are written from Izumi's perspective. 2. NANGOU Yoshitaka 3. DATE Shougo 4. AMANO Satoru As far as I can tell, the whole series revolved around the love life of Izumi. At the beginning, Izumi was a very innocent, kawaii student. He got to know Yoshitaka who falls for him (Izumi). Anyway, Izumi found himself gradually growing to like Yoshitaka as well. Then in comes Date. Date and Yoshitaka behaved as though they knew each other *very well*. Izumi got jealous of their closeness. (This is confusing. Later, he realised that he likes Date.) And btw, Date has a lover, Satoru. Anyway, because he was jealous of he-don't-know-what, he told a former lover of Date that Satoru is the present lover. So the former lover raped Satoru and Date comforted Satoru by making love to him in Izumi's house (!) and it was then Izumi realised that he really likes Date. However, I still don't know how the story managed to twist until Izumi, feeling desolate on Christmas, went to look for Satoru who initiated him into sex. (Yes, he's a virgin until volume 6. Guess who's uke and who's seme? The author wrote about that in the authors note behind. It was ...unexpected.) Anyway, from then on, the story concentrated on more on his attraction towards Date and Date's attraction for him as well. (Izumi is really rather appealing with his kawaii looks and his wide-eyed innocence and he's a good cook too!) Well, despite the series being called Izumi&Yoshitaka series, by the end of volume 7, there's a very *nice* (or should I say gucho^2? ^_-) illustration of Izumi and Date!!
Mangaka: YOSHIZAKI Seimu

Two highschool kids working at a detective agency. They have
absolutely no, er, in Chinese, we called it mo4 qi4, in English, I'm not
so sure, maybe communication?? They get along well and they like each
other but when one pass something to the other, the other will miss the
thing. Their movements cannot match each other. Something like that.
Then the detective agency also have another adult pair...it's rather
difficult to say what's so attractive about the manga without going into a
detailed synposis on each volume but suffice it to say that it's humourous
(very) and fun to read! The main character is an optimistic and cute
fellow who lifts my spirits whenever I read the manga!

Like Oz. Talks about this scientist who became a genius after a
car accident and how he designed this humanoid robot as a bodyguard for
a millionaire and how plans went awry and the robot fell in love with him
and wanted to protect him and live with him happily.
Note: The author mentioned fans writing to ask her if the man and machine
will eventually, you know, do it. She replied that it is not her way to
draw those types.

Between 2 politicians. This was interesting coz I never dreamed
of a love relationship between 2 *politicans*. The title is actually the
address of the Parliment house. Anyway, against all logic, the pair was
popular among the people and they had a lot of supporters. I love this
part where, believing there was a threat to innocents if they did not
comply, the two had a very public kiss in the House of Parliment! ^_-
Boy, can you think of it in real life?
Mangaka: TOGAWA Mitomo
Number of vols: 1-6 (complete-chinese)
Talks about a Oosaka boy who is prettier than a girl (aren't they
always?) and came to Kichijoji because he was raped back home. Anyway,
his landlord, who is the same age as him and same school, fell in love
with him and thus began their koimono gatari. The landlord also had a
cousin who loved him but the cousin had a heart disease and would have
died quite young if not for a doctor who fell in love with him (the
cousin) and gave up his position at a prestigious hospital to become the
cousin's doctor at the local hospital. I think my fave character is the
cousin, he's smart, sharp-tongued and yet astonishingly naive at the same
time.
You see, he gave up on the landlord and his relationship with the
doctor developed to the point where he wanted to do it. But he honestly
thought it'll be the same as medical examination. kyaaa! He got scared,
ran off with an excuse and went to ask the raped guy the details (by this
time, the raped guy finally overcome his phobia and managed to have s*x
with the landlord.), So he asked about the procedure, the position, etc.
The poor raped guy blushed all over and started crying. ^^

Wow, this is complicated, to cut it short, it's between 2 guys who
grew up together. When they were 5, they promised to marry each other at
18. But only one remembered (the guy on top, of course). Anyway, he more
or less (not really but...) forced himself on the other on their 18th
birthday. So the story started like this and finally ended with the other
discovering that he loved the forceful guy too. There's actually another
pair inside the story but unless you want details, this is it.

Student-teacher love. Guess who's uke? The teacher lost his
lover few years ago and from then on, never smiled. His student told him
that he wanted the teacher. So the teacher, knowing that the student
stayed all the year in red for Maths, told him that if his marks were
higher than the average for the standard, he'd consider. The boy cried
that it was unfair, upon which the teacher remarked, "if you are a man,
tough stone can go thru" (literal translation from Chinese saying). Well,
he got 51 out of 100. But, the average was 48. Kyakya. Anyway, he and
the teacher started a sexual relationship but it later developed to an
enriching love. ^_^

Love between 2 colleagues. The active one is two years younger
than the passive one. (Another thing, this younger man being uke is also
usual. Another barrier of age?) This is very cute. We have the typical
very shy and "violent" (tight slap when the other tried to cross the line)
and the other brimming with love (and hormones ^_-). Very very nice.

Rich boy fell in love with orphan. This is another cutie! The
orphan can be so dense even when the other guy told him he liked him
directly. So he thought he meant friendship. I like the part when he
demanded to know why the rich fellow (btw, he's younger by 1 year) wants
to join the same activity as him, and the rich guy said because he wants
to go home together with him. And why he want to go home with him?
Because he like him. So we can be friends? Oh boy!

Rich boy fell in love with neighbour. This is very similar to the
one above. What I like about this is the rich boy's willingness to take
anything so as to stay by his beloved's side even if his love wasn't
reciprocated. IMHO, tho, that's really stupid. I still admire him tho.

I'm not sure how to explain this. She has written another series
on the same topic before. That is everyone is a star and they have aother
star as their destined pair. And their lives are guided by stars.
Anyway, there is this very very very rare pairing of stars which are
extremely powerful. Many wars in the past had been caused by these kind
of powerful extreme pairing. Basically, once the two destined meet, they
will never leave each other and if they dislike each other, fate will
retaliate by destruction so they must love each other and accept fate.
Well, this series is about one such pair. It is a very very nice manga
provided you don't mind the ungainly art.

This is a bit dark but ends happily. Talks about love between a
man born of incest (parents are siblings, twins actually) and his kouhai
(?). He feels unworthy altho he is very very beautiful.

A bit of rape. A guy was raped and repeatedly forced to have sex
with his classmate. But he later realised that whenever he was in
trouble, it's always the same guy who comes to rescue him and he realised
he did like the guy as well. And oh, this guy is really cute. He has
this funny sense of beauty (like in Moonchild), he sees really ugly guys
as good looking and his boyfriend, who is ultra-gorgeous, he used to think
he look very ugly. When he discovered his love for him, his sense of
beauty (with reference to his boyfriend ONLY) switched to normal. But he
still like ugly guys. ^^

The time is 20th century. Terroists had been getting more and
more violent. So G-Defend was formed to protect the country. The
terroists retaliated by trying to kill the figure of highest authority
every time. Seven had been killed but the eighth is still alive thanks to
a highly capable bodyguard who is also very much in love with his CO.
VERY nice.

classmates. There's quite some heavy issues about friendship, love,
family relationship inside. There are also a few hot scenes. ^^;;

The manga is about a 26 (or 24?) year old man who likes his neighbour, an 18 (I think, never paid attention to figures) year old girl. Anyway, he has this quite a big-sized penguin with which he can talk! His father found the penguin lost and brought it back to Japan. So the penguin told him to go after the girl and said that if it likes a female penguin very much, it would do the same. Well, the guy, when he heard that, asked the penguin not to compare him to penguins whereupon the penguin retorted that he's a penguin chavuinist! (I hope that's not confusing. ^_^;;) Anyway, the series alternated between the romance of the man and his girl and the relationship between him and his penguin. It's very hilarious!! I love the part when the penguin sneaked out to watch over the guy on his first date with the girl. When the pair cleared the ticket stall, the penguin, dressed in Dick Tracy style, bluntly held out the ticket to be cut by the stunned ticket man who cut the ticket and promptly goes crazy!!

Wish I is about a very very cute, kind-hearted and absent-minded angel who cry rather easily. He came down to Earth to look for another important angel who disappeared without a word. The thing is he depends on the sun for his energy so he looks like a teenager in the day and at night, when the sun is down, he transforms into a (what do they call it) mini doll like angel. ^_^ Anyway, he met a doctor who saved him and wanted to repay the doctor by giving him one wish. But the doctor has no wish at all and believes in achieving his own needs by himself. So the angel stays at his place until the doctor discovers his wish.
