Tokimeki Tonight (lit. "Palpitation Tonight") is one of the most famous manga series by Ikeno Koi and also quite a feat of a manga. It's 30+1 volumes long and tells the story of three different "generations" of the same family. It starts with the story of Ranze, continues with the live of her little brother Rinze and ends with the tale of Ranze's daughter, Aira. During the whole thing you see many of the secondary characters re-appearing (some getting old and some staying the same due to the nature of the series), and also you see those characters sons and daughters becoming a part of the story, too.

Tokimeki Tonight was serialized from 1982 to 1995 in the shoujo magazine Ribon. It also had a TV anime adaptation in 1982, though it's extremely hard to find and doesn't seem to be too good (aside being pretty short, it seems). As the older manga volumes became out of print, Tokimeki Tonight was reprinted in bunko version (smaller in size but thicker than normal volumes) and is widely available.

About the Story:

What is it about? Ranze and Rinze belong to a ... um... different kind of family than the one you would think. In fact, their mother is a werewolf and their father is a vampire. As the story opens, Ranze is a normal school girl (well, if you can forgive that little detail about her parents ;), falling in love with the bad-boy in the class and fighting against the rich, yakuza-parented all-good-girl classmate. However, one day, in the middle of a heated discussion she... bites her classmate and turns into an exact copy of her! Ranze's parents are very happy their daughter has some powers, and they show her a whole new dimension attached to the normal one... Of course, problems have only started (and so has the manga, too! ^^ )

If you are interested in ordering this manga but your local/usual manga store doesn't have a clue about it, these ISBN numbers will come in handy :) Your best bet is to attempt the bunko version, as the normal version might be out of print (except for the Epilogue volume, which is fairly new)
