"Mou DEBU nante iwasenai!" is the title of a short manga (in fact, it only makes half of the tankoubon ^^ ) by Yorita Miyuki (drawings) and Yasui Kuniho (story). I bought this manga because I like Yorita's style very much and wanted to get all her backlist, and this manga turned out to be one of my favorites! ^^

Mou Debu... is the story of average office girl Hina and how she tries to change her life for the better... if only her 15+ excess kilos and that disagreable camera man wouldn't be there! ^o^ The word "debu" in Japanese means something along the lines of "fatty."
What is different between this manga and others? Well, Yorita-sensei likes to make manga about every-day situations and persons, and so her characters come across very alive, they are people you can identify with. Also, Yorita is great in giving the point without slaping you with it. (Something I'm sure most of us are grateful for ;)

CHARACTERS:

Hina

Hina is a young woman working as an OL (Office Lady) in a sports wear company. She loves food, is overweight and has a happy life. She is pretty average and a very nice person... just don't get her angry (^^; ).

Akai-kun is the photographer contracted by the company to follow Hina's and Tabura's progress to "slimness" so they can use his photos for the campaign. He's quite good looking and open-minded. He is obviously interested in Hina from the start, and tries to be her friend... though she doesn't seem to be too interested in that!

Megumi is your typical pretty/beautiful woman. She is a coworker of Hina and her "friend." Megumi falls for Akai-kun and tries to make him be interested in her, trying to break him appart from Hina... But Akai is not interested in her and even less when she turns into such a pest.
