Everybody has inside a box closed by locks that can't
be opened by the person itself, and so...
Mogami Kyouko is a young, pretty and really nice girl
working at a fastfood chain
restaurant when she is relieved of her turn by another of the
girls, who was late. Kyouko runs to the locker room worried
because since she had to cover for the other girl, she is now
going to be late for her next job... But in the locker room,
some of the other girls are talking about male idols, and one
produces two gigant life-size posters of a certain Shou! She
says she got them when she bought the first press edition of
his new single... Kyouko is horrified... she was in line for
the whole night before the release, was the first customer,
bought two copies AND GOT NO POSTERS!!
The other girls take pity on her and tell her that perhaps
if she goes back to the shop and shows the receipts and explains
what happened, they will give her the posters... Faster than her
own shadow, Kyouko is out of the room, on her bike, and pedaling
like crazy!
Kyouko arrives to the store (
bycicle included...) and... er... "asks" for her posters to
the terrorized salespersons. They explain because she was so early,
they had had no time to explain about the poster campaign... They
only have left the one they used for the store, but Kyouko is
very happy even if it's that one.
(And of course, now she is really late for
the next job... )
The next job is as a salesgirl in a traditional Japanese food
shop. The owner tells a really exhausted Kyouko that she should
have taken the day off, but Kyouko says she won't be able to
pay the rent if she misses any day... The woman wonders why
a nice girl like Kyouko needs all that money, since she has the
other jobs and also wonders why she is not going to high school.
She asks her if she lives alone, but Kyouko avoids answering and
instead daydreams about becoming a princess, because princess
used to be dirty and ragged and full of work, but they became
pretty when meeting their prince.
After work, Kyouko returns home and suddenly notices that
the lights from her apartment are on... She runs inside and...
Shou the idol is standing inside!!
Kyouko is very happy, but
admonishes her for lifting her voice so much... Kyouko is
all happy to see him and wonders if he is leaving already (because
he is grabbing some clothes). He says he just came for some of
his stuff, and complains that there is no beer left in the
fridge (*) and doubts her abilities as a "house keeper," even
though Kyoko tells him that she didn't buy any because she
doesn't drink it and lately she never knows when he will be
home, as he never answers her calls to his celphone. Kyouko
thinks that because they have been friends since they were little,
she is the only one who really knows how to make him happy.
Kyouko remembers the occassion while in middle school when
she overheard Shou complaining about his parents wanting to put
him in an arranged marriage with a girl he couldn't stand so
she could continue with the family's business, an inn (*2).
He later asked her to go with him to Tokyo because he wanted
to pursue his dream of becoming an idol... She has been always
very happy that she was the one only girl he chose for that!
While Shou and Kyouko watch TV as he eats a pudding she
got for him, she tells him about the excitment from her
coworkers, one of which changed from being a Ren fan to
being his fan, which makes him way too happy... On the TV
there is a program, and Shou's
supposed rival, Tsuruga Ren is
introduced, to the obvious delight of the audience... It
turns out that he is no.1 favorite for girls in their
twenties, far above Shou. Even though Kyouko tries to tell
Shou that he is probably too young for women in their 20s, as
he is just 16, he leaves in anger anyway...
In the background, Ren says that his ideal of the perfect
woman is somebody nice and homely... Kyouko damns him to hell...
(^^;;; )
Next day, in a break from her fastfood restaurant job,
Kyouko tries to call Shou's celphone, but it's again just
on message mode... She says she is sorry about the evening
before and that even if other women think differently, he is
still number one for her.
Kyouko is depressed about having to leave the message, but
then decides to go give him some food, as she remember today
he is working in a nearby place.
When she arrives there, she is surprised that there are
many people waiting for him, but she manages to sneak in because
she is wearing her uniform and says it's a special delivery.
Once inside, as she runs looking for Shou, she overhears him
repeating the message she just left... and then saying that being
number one for her is nothing to be proud of!
Kyouko stares in shock...
Shou is talking with a pretty older woman, who says he is
being a little to hard on the girl, after all what Kyouko has
done for him. He says that he doesn't care because he just
brought her with him so she could take care of him, since he is
too much above making housekeeping and average working... He
says that he asked Kyouko because she has always been like a
housekeeper for him, always helping at his parents' inn
and always being nice no matter how bad he treated her.
The woman, Shouko, says that since he can now live on his
earnings, why doesn't he let her go, and he agrees, saying he
will send her back to Kyoto. (A mini Shou-devil approaches the
locks in the box...) He goes on while Kyouko has
backflashes to all these scenes, explaining that his
parents never understood him and wanted to marry him to Kyouko
(the girl he couldn't stand, who was plain and
boring... watch those locks open one by
one...),
after all, it's ok for her to sweat her life off into
working all for his sake. Also, Shouko is so much more like
his type (and he has been spending most of his nights at her
appartment under the pretext that she is his manager...)
Kyouko throws the food box to them, and lets herself
be known... She says that it was him who brought her to
Tokyo... and he replies that only because it was convenient.
Kyouko stumbles to a nearby sofa and starts making strangling
noises.
Shou: Guezz, don't cry like that.
Kyouko: h...hu... huh...
Shou: ??????
Kyouko: Hah, hah, hahah, hahahahahah...
Shou: -----??
And the box inside
Kyouko, opens!
Kyouko throws all the little
angels that used to be her at Shou and yells at him that she
is getting revenge on him for all the times he used her and
all the times she couldn't do all the things she wanted because
of him...
Of course he laughes at her and tells her that he is now
beyond her reach, and that the only way she could touch him
is by entering the showbizz business, which of course is too
high for an ordinary person like her... Then orders the
security guards to throw her out.
But Kyouko is now set on her plans, and with her new
freedom and a visit to an stylist...
Kyouko is ready to go!
"Just watch, Shoutarou!" (*3)
* Legal age for drinking and buying alcohol in Japan
is 20 anyway (^^;;; ).
*2 In Japan, the inns are traditionally run by the
woman/wife of the family, while the man has a more background
job like accountability and things like that.
*3 Shoutarou (Shou's real name) being a rather
provincial-type stereotypical name. Ohohohoho.

After her "transformation" Kyouko left her apartment and started
living with the family that runs Darumayu, one of the shops she works
part-time for. The husband is not very happy at her transformation,
the woman explains to her, because he liked how she was before: a really
nice girl, always smiling and happy to help. The woman wonders if
she is the daughter of some big inn owner, because she seems to know
so much about the business of attending people (she used to spend most
of her time at Shou's parent's inn after all... ). The husband just
throws stones at her about the fact that she is not even going to
high school... Kyouko leaves for her "job" mad as hell because not
only was Shou being sent to school and he never told her, but because
she left with him, she is now a runaway and can't go back home!
Kyouko's "job" is now stading in popular areas waiting to be
scouted (*), but it's been 5 days already and nobody has approached
her... She is not giving up, however! Kyouko decides to go directly
to a famous company and ask for a job!
She manages to sneak her way into an interview with a producer
in the company, LME. He asks her in what section she wants to work, but
she has no idea what he is talking about... Does she want to be
a singer? (she is not really good at it...) a talent perhaps?
(she never really liked that...) There just doesn't seem to be
anything she is interested in...
The producer attempts to
throw her out of the place... And in the process,
Ren appears! Kyouko
suffers an attack of hate... (the producer wonders why she is
kneeling in horror instead of fainting like every other girl
would... )
Ren wonders who she is, and the producer explains what
happened. Before Kyouko can blink twice, she is out in the
street and Ren is closing the door and telling her not to
come again!
Kyouko is not going to forgive him...
As the day pass, the producer and other workers realize
that Kyouko is outside kneeling
on the floor, waiting! Ren watches
her...
When the producer is about to go home, he notices that she is
no longer outside. But in fact, she is waiting for him! She follows
him asking for a job... as they walk...
in the taxi he takes home to
avoid her... in home... during his bath... while he
attempts to sleep...
Kyouko is happy that he
finally gave up and agreeded to meet her again, and
thanks him a lot (^^;;; ). The producer warns her that they
pass a test to all the newcomers to see if they can really
do it or not. He expects her to be very scared, but instead
she just agrees happily.
On her way to the audition, she bumps into somebody...
Ren!
(*) - It's very common for "talent scouters" to look for
pretty girls in popular areas and offer them talent or idol jobs. (Of
course most of these "jobs" aren't too recommendable... ^^; )
