Note: B/w scans are from the magazine, where the print is in low quality paper and different ink colors so it sometimes scans pretty bad and leaves lots of noise in the picture. The tankoubon quality is, of course, much better (perfect, that is).

Chapter 9 (May'2002) [ vol.02 ]
Kyouko is sent to accompany pretty idol Ruriko (also known as Ruri) and her manager to the place where Ruri will be filming something. Kyouko manages to make herself believe that Ruri is some nice tale-princess-quality-like girl who needs her to protect her. During the ride, however, the van breaks down and they are forced to walk. Ruri doesn't want to, and Kyouko (carrying a big parasol) learns that Tsuruga Ren will be at the location too... (her steps become considerably heavier...) After 5 minutes of walking, Ruri complains that she is dead tired and pulls a oh-pity-me! act on Kyouko, and the girl buys it all and ends up carrying Ruri over her back... (^^; ) Some time later, Ruri arrives alone at the production site and is very nice to everybody. One of the assistants there wonders why Ruri arrived with that weird parasol and where is her manager anyway? Ruri is noncommital... ... but in fact, poor Kyouko's strength faltered and she fell, not being able to move much more, so Ruri just continued on her own and told Kyouko she would send somebody. But of course Ruri just happens to forget mentioning her in her explanations about the car problems and her walk. Some time later Kyouko is still laying there, being fryed by the sun, but she can't walk to the shadows because her ankle hurts a lot. Kyouko realizes that before while she was carrying Ruri she had the feeling that she had to protect her and care for her, just the same type of feeling she had for Shoutarou. But even though she tried to give love, Shoutarou turned his back on her, just like her mom did before that. Since she was a kid, nobody bothered to look at her... Tsuruga Ren interrupts Kyouko's thoughts. He wonders if she is resting, while Kyouko attempt to... er... paddle her way away from him. Kyouko wonders if Ruri sent him for her, but he denies it. He notices her hurt foot, so he takes her up in his arms and starts to carry her back. Kyouko is shocked!!
Chapter 10 (Jun'2002) [ vol.02 ]
Ren carries Kyouko to the set, even though she is really not happy about this (much to the amazement of everyone else, used to see girls drooling over Ren). While a member of Ren's staff, Yashiro, helps bound Kyouko's ankle, she feels dark, evil waves... but there is no one around! As it happens, the waves are comming from Ruriko, who is now dressed up for her part and has seen Ren and Kyouko and is angry as hell... she won't forgive her!! Ruri tries to get Ren's attention, but he intentionally acts in his usual a$$ way and makes her run away. As Ruriko stalks off madly, she encounters Kyouko and Yashiro, and for a moment, Kyouko sees Ruri's real dark feelings and recognizes the waves as the same ones she felt before... Naaaah, can't be! It's dear Ruriko after all. However, Ruriko starts talking really bad about her, so Kyouko has to (literally) stop her evil demons from springing up and attacking Ruri! Because Ruriko has had this wonderful idea that if she is missing from the set, people will notice her, Kyouko and Yahiro just take her up and drag her back (^^; ). Ruriko however, pushes Kyouko to the floor to demostrate that Kyouko's pain is not real and she did it just to have Ren help her, but of course the moment Ruri arrives to the part where she says Kyouko likes Ren... Her pain is forgotten and her demons escape again!! Kyouko is saved from saying something she would probably regret when Ren and his staff tell Ruriko to stop it, Ren looks at her sternly and the rest of the people look at her with a bad face too. Ruriko can't stand that they prefer Kyouko to her. Later on, the director doesn't like the way Ruriko is acting while clad in her kimono, but she doesn't take this well at all. Meanwhile, Kyouko remembers her lessons taken from Shou's mom (it is customary in Japan that inn workers use kimono). Ruriko keeps being childish and screaming around as the rest of the staff looks like it's getting really tired of it. Kyouko notices this and coolly announces that she can do that work herself. Ruriko attacks back saying that it's ok with her if they prefer such an amateur and that Kyouko will do anything for earning points, and Kyouko says (in full demon mode) that if this is helping her get to her debut, then she is taking the chance!
Chapter 11 (Jun'2002) [ vol.02 ]
Ren talks with the director and wonders if he really means it about letting "that girl" try the role. Meanwhile, Ruriko is still in shock that the man accepted Kyouko instead of kissing her behind like everyone else did before... (^^;;; ) Kyouko and her demons are taken to the make-up room and she specially enjoys the mention of the word "make-up" and its concept, so she keeps on making the poor make-up girl repeat it... (since she couldn't afford make-up before because all the money went to Shoutarou...) After hearing comments from the staff, Ruriko goes into real panic mode and Ren ends up talking to her. When Kyouko comes in her costume and make-up she and Ruri fight (verbally) and Ren notices the director smiling at Ruri's heated reactions. Ren seems to suspect something is going on. They start the filming and Kyouko surprises everybody with her exquisite manners and wonderful way to carry a kimono (from all the times she helped at Shoutarou's parents' inn... ^^; ). However, her ankle is starting to act up. Ren tapes Kyouko's ankle while Ruri sees it and realizes something about an upcoming scenes... Ren tells Kyouko that the next scene is a tea ceremony and will last 15 minutes. If she doesn't pass it, she is out of the game!
