Synopsis

All synopsis are by Zahara Medina, and cannot be used anywhere else without her permission. As she is just a student of Japanese, any help, comments or corrections are more than welcome! ^^;
Please, go to the Image Gallery to see the covers in full! ^^
(And remember to buy these tankobon if you like the summaries, it's the best way of thanking the authors and the synopsis are nothing compared to the real thing! ^^ )

Note: B/w scans are from the magazine, where the print is in low quality paper and different ink colors so it sometimes scans pretty bad and leaves lots of noise in the picture. The tankoubon quality is, of course, much better (perfect, that is).

Chapter 21 (Dec'2002) [ vol.04 ]

Rooster Kyouko looks around searching for ways to destroy Shou's TV appearance and discovers a couple of badminton rackets, which she used to play when little against Shou. She ends up in charge of a basket full of fake eggs that are filled with questions for Shou... Demonic rooster-Kyouko enters the scene.
The first paper contains a comment that asks Shou to reveal his real name... (Kyouko drowns in her glee, knowing "Shoutarou" is not exactly the kind of name he wants associated with his cool image). Shou wonders how on Earth anybody discovered that, since it's just on his personal data file in his company and not many persons have access to it. He seems to be in a though spot but he saves the day but giving a feelingful speech. At LME, some of the staff watching the show comment on how Shou run away from home when he decided to become an idol.

Back at the studio, Shou is really happy with himself while rooster-Kyouko is seriously depressed at his success... But not all is lost! Next egg starts just like the previous one but this time it's a comment on how Shou used to belong in the badminton club of his school, and how it would be really great to see him play... (Shou has a horrific flashback nightmare about how bad he was at it). Rooster-Kyouko happens to appear at the scene with the badminton rackets she found earlier and Shou is cornered into having to play a short game. Since so far in all their badminton confrontations Kyouko has won 36 times and Shou none, it seems Kyouko is lucky, but to her shock, Sho manages to pull out his fighting instinct and play with a style that wins over all his fans!
However, in her last effort to catch him, rooster-Kyouko uses an upper shot which she used to do when little, and Sho is reminded of her. Luckily for him (he never managed to return that specific shot), the ball gets stuck in one of the ceiling lights rack and so he wins... Rooster-Kyouko leaves for the CM break, but Shou is now intrigued and wonders if Kyouko is inside the costume.

Chapter 22 (Jan'2003) [ vol.04 ]

Rooster-Kyouko is depressed and frustrated at her faliure at bringing Shou down in front of his fans. On top of that, she also got spanked by one of the bosses of the show... As she serves the guest and presenters some tea while in a VCR break, Shou's eyes connect with hers and suddenly he tries to reach for her rooster-head! Kyouko stops him in time and wonders what is happening, while Shou says that he wants to know if there is a woman or a man inside the suit! This doesn't settle well with rooster-Kyouko, and she tries to hit Shou back with her beak! (^^;;; )
Shou stops her though, and Shou whispers to her with a sly expression that there must be someone inside he knows! The battle for the rooster head begins as rooster-Kyouko hangs on as well as she can.
Eventually they both fall and Shou deriberately puts his hand on her chest, pressing through the suit's filling... He goes all smug about there being a woman under the suit (even though the chest is small) but... unfortunately for him, rooster-Kyouko has reached maximum demonic level. "I'm going to KILL YOUU!!!!!" Shou's screams can be heard from far away...

And so, rooster-Kyouko gets canned from the program and is reminded about the rule that says you must be nice to the guests even if you don't like them. Eventually rooster-Kyouko makes it back to the studio and watches Shou's singing onstage. She wonders about the difference of levels between her and Shou. But in the process, she is also a little taken by Shou.

Rooster-Kyouko walks along the hallways calling herself stupid and feeling really mad at herself and upset because of her momentary appreciation of Shou.
Meanwhile, Shou is still pondering about the identity of the rooster mascot, but even though he paralels demonic-rooster-Kyouko's outburst with the first time he saw Kyouko's real temper, he tells his manager that it was just some stalker and safely assumes that she is well below his level. He thinks that although she entered the showbusiness world, she can't catch up with him.

In her dazed self-insulting daze, rooster-Kyouko ends up in some storage area and wonders what did she ever do to deserve this... as Ren is sitting right in front of her. She turns to go away, but notices Ren is having a worried expression on his face. Because of the last time they met (Kyouko ended up giving him the finger), she is not very sure of what to do, but she is given away and Ren notices her (as the rooster). He asks "her" to stay and in a very unsual nice-guy-like manner for him, and asks "her" to please support him because there is none else he can depend on right now... Kyouko is really surprised and wonders what happened.

Chapter 23 (Jan'2003) [ vol.04 ]

Ren has a horrible doomed expression on his face and Rooster-Kyouko thinks that he looks like the world is coming to an end...
Replay: Ren asks Rooster-Kyouko to help him... Rooster-Kyouko (changing her voice) says that if it's in her power... Ren goes all smiles and... can she lend him her keitai (mobile phone)?? Rooster-Kyouko is sorry but... she hasn't got one.
And that was when Ren got the face of utter doom. Rooster-Kyouko wonders if he forgot his since he always uses his own. And even then, there are many phones around... She asks him if he can't ask his manager for his, and Ren says that he can but... it's out of service... and none of the other people's keitai works... Rooster-Kyouko wonders what the hell he needs the keitai to do. Then she notices a dialogue booklet near him... no way, is it that... there is a word he doesn't understand in it??? Rooster-Kyouko laughes at this.
(Japanese keitai phones come with very interesting hiragana-kanji abilities...)

After much glee, laughter and teasing from Rooster-Kyouko, and eventually terror when Ren does his uber-seriously-scary look (and then laughs at her reactions), Rooster-Kyouko is impressed by his ideas and eventually helps him with the word/kanji in question. Ren didn't know the word and thought it meant something else completely, which made the dialogue look really weird. After another round of laughter from Rooster-Kyouko (well-meant and well-taken by Ren) and much teasing, Ren has to get ready for his show. Because of a stagelight, Rooster-Kyouko is reminded of Shoutarou and her moment of debility and falls (literally) depressed all over again. Ren wonders if it's not better for her to take the rooster head off, but she hangs on it.
Ren warns her about not being able to advance in her career, and Rooster-Kyouko says he doesn't understand. As it happens, he can, because he had to climb the ladder to stardom as well. Kyouko is impressed because she always thought he was a "instant success" kind of guy.

After they separate, Ren decides to go after her once more, and thanks her. Rooster-Kyouko is very surprised by the first true smile he has given her. She wonders if they have become a little more like friends... Thanks to their talk, Kyouko is energized up and tells herself that even if she messes up today, she can try again tomorrow. She tells herself not to give up and try hard!

(Note: I will need a little more time to do this chapter properly, so big chunks of the conversation between them have been really summarized!)
