Note: B/w scans are from the magazine, where the print is in low quality paper and different ink colors so it sometimes scans pretty bad and leaves lots of noise in the picture. The tankoubon quality is, of course, much better (perfect, that is).

Chapter 27 (Apr'2003) [ vol.05 ]
Kurosaki refuses (to put it mildly) Erika's 20 million yen (and that's just her pocket money...). He explains that the next audition will consist in the girls pairing up and having a fight in 60 seconds (he also gives the background about what they are fighting for: Friends Girl A and Girl B like the same guy, Girl A declares her feelings to him, but it turns out he likes Girl B). Brevity and simplicity being the key. Kyouko and Kotonami end up being a pair and Kyouko is worried about the whole thing. When their time comes up, Kyouko starts to get into her character when Kotonami suddenly slaps her hard across the face. Kyouko is surprised for a moment but then realizes she has to continue with the "play" and prepares to slap back. But Kotonami has fallen to the floor seemingly scared of what she just did and crying, so Kyouko reacts to this and tells her she is sorry. Everybody is impressed and they comment on how the only dialogue was the last word and how the two of them really showed their character's feelings as the girls in the fight. (Note - Although the boy likes Girl B, Girl A has the "right" to be affronted and mad with Girl B, because Girl A had the guts to confess her love while Girl B just got him without doing anything. This is a pattern found in some shoujo manga that sometimes confuses the westener ^^ )
Chapter 28 (Apr'2003) [ vol.05 ]
While the pairs think about the next part of the audition, a reconciliation scene between Girl A and Girl B, Kotonami and Erika have a fight over Kyouko (of all things ^^; ). Erika wonders why Kotonami is so protective of Kyouko all of a sudden. Meanwhile, Kyouko is in another room thinking about the scene. She arrives to the thought that she has decided not love again. Erika walks around through the hallways still very mad, and happens to see Kyouko attempting several scenes with a chair, all very happy and cute. Erika starts thinking on the scene, in which she wants to use her ballet while the other girl sings... but the other girl said Erika's character should apologize and Erika doesn't want to do this because she has never apologized in her whole life! Inside the room, Kyouko realizes that this time she has to give a very strong lead to be able to match Kyouko's. As she thinks about the reasons for the fight between girl A and girl B and wherever "an apology" is the only thing that is needed, she has a sudden idea! Outside, Erika notices this. It's time for the audition to continue. One of the judges says that he has a good feeling about Erika and Kotonami. They ask Kurosaki if he has decided already on the pink jumpsuit pair (Kyouko and Kotonami), but he is not completely sure. As they want towards the audition room, they see Erika and her servants concentrated looking into the room. When he goes inside, he notices Kyouko is there. Kotonami listens to Erika giving instructions to her pair, who wonders if there won't be anybody else with the same idea. Erika smiles nastily sideways at Kotonami and says there won't. The audition starts and Erika and her pair perform the ballet/singing with the girl offering the drink to Erika and them becoming friends again, all very neat and surprising the judges, but... exactly what Kyouko had been planning!! Kyouko is in total shock! Kotonami is in shock at Kyouko's dark face, and Kurosaki notices something is going on. Poor Kyouko says aloud that the act Erika did (who is happily smiling in one side) is what she had planned for them to do... So she now won't be able to have a strong impact on the judges if she does the same!
Chapter 29 (May'2003) [ vol.05 ]
Kotonami remembers some of Erika's previous words and Kurosaki remembers catching Erika looking into the room. They both arrive to the same conclusion, that Erika used Kyouko's idea. Kurosaki asks them aloud what's wrong, and Kotonami stumbles for an answer, but Kyouko says that they will do it now. Kyouko's demons awake and she asks if she can have some of the soft drink (the product whose ad they are auditioning for). After she returns, she gives a plastic bottle to Kotonami and keeps a can. She tells Kotonami to follow her lead. One of the judges tells them to start, and the first thing Kyouko does is spray the contents of her can all over Kotonami! A dark faced Kyouko says it's payback for the slap. Kotonami is not sure how to follow this, but then Kyouko smiles and starts acting like a friend who is trying to make amends, and Kotonami reacts to this. She tries to return the spraying with her bottle, but her soft drink acts strangely and kind of drips everywhere! They end up laughing over this--and so do the judges and the other girls. After this Kotonami asks Kyouko to forgive her, they both toast and Kotonami says "thank you" to Kyouko (for forgiving her). The audition ends and everybody seems to have found this a much more satisfying end than Erika's. Erika is furious, and Kotonami smiles at this. The judges retire to deliberate and the one that took Kyouko for more bottles of the soft drink tells Kurosaki (who is still pondering over the fact that Kyouko seemed to come up with the new idea so fast) that Kyouko shook both can and bottle (aka, she guessed Kotonami would try to spray her back, but with the pre-shaking from Kyouko, it would backfire). The other two judges aside from Kurosaki are very happy with Kyouko and Kotonami, and so they seem to have decided on them!
