Note: B/w scans are from the magazine, where the print is in low quality paper and different ink colors so it sometimes scans pretty bad and leaves lots of noise in the picture. The tankoubon quality is, of course, much better (perfect, that is).

NOTE! Ichiko (the true one, female) = Ichigou (real hair, passing as male) = Ichigo (same as Ichiko, name she used to use for Kanzaki and Sousuke). The three are the same girl.

Chapter 39 (Jan'2003)
The day of the school festival arrives and both Ichiko and Chizuru are on duty as waitresses in the cafe their class chose to do(*). Meanwhile, Kanzaki is seeing all the people and booths from behind a window, as his manager doesn't want him to go take a look around the school. As the time for the concert approaches, Chizuru and Ichiko end their "work" and prepare to go watch Kanzaki. Chizuru is worried because Ichiko says she doesn't know how she is going to meet him, but she tells Chizuru that it's ok because they will manage to meet each other somehow. When they arrive at the stage area (the gym) there are too many girls and Ichiko can't see a thing. However, one of them asks Ichiko to hang a banner from the second floor balcony... The concert starts and Kanzaki notices Ichiko in the 2nd floor even if she tries to hide behind the banner. For the last song, Kanzaki sings the first song he has written by himself. After the concert ends and the gym is emptied, Ichiko meets Kanzaki downstairs and he helps her fold the banner. They talk chit-chat about the festival and eventually their hands meet and Kanzaki kisses Ichiko for a long time. Ichiko realizes that she can't run from her feelings anymore. But she is very surprised when it's Kanzaki who suddenly tells her that he likes her. Kanzaki says he is sorry for all the anxiety he has caused to her until now and for not having said it before... They both kiss again. (*: At the school festivals, each class decides to do some kind of gig, such as cafes, entertaiment rooms (horror tunels, etc...), booths selling different types of food the students make, etc... for visitors to the school. At the end of the day, all the assembling and extra things that were made for the festival are burnt in a big fire.)
Chapter 40 (Feb'2003)
Kanzaki and Ichiko break apart. Ichiko thinks that it feels like a dream... but it's for real! Kanzaki tells her that he will wait for her while she grabs her things. Ichiko wonders if he doesn't have work that evening, but he tells her he took the day off because he had important things to do (with her). Chiziru catches up with Ichiko, and is told about what happened. She seems really happy for Ichiko, and Ichiko hugs her and thanks her for her support. Ichiko and Kanzaki leave the school. Kanzaki says he wants to see her house. Ichiko takes him there, but is a bit nervous because they are all alone. Kanzaki sees a photo of her and Ken when little and says she is really cute. Ichiko tries to get the photo back, thinking she hates the photos of when she and Ken where little (in all the photos she has a very sad look and/or non-smiling face while Ken is all happy smiles). Kanzaki tells her again she is really cute and to break the romantic tension, Ichiko asks him about his infancy days. Kanzaki confesses that he was a very noisy kid, so his dad was always getting angry. They joke about it and Ichiko thinks she wants to know more about that side of Kanzaki. When it's time to leave, Kanzaki asks if he can kiss her... and so he does. After he leaves, someone rings on Ichiko's house door. It's Tendou! Tendou sits in her living room and tells her that he saw Kanzaki leaving, he asks her what happened. Ichiko wonders for a moment, but then decides it's okay to tell him. She says she and Kanzaki are going out together. Tendou looks down and the mood slumps. Ichiko says she is going for more tea, but Tendou stops her by saying that he likes her more than what Kanzaki does. Ichiko is shocked that Tendou likes her!
Chapter 41 (Feb'2003)
Ichiko is shocked at Tendou's declaration. He goes to her and adds that he has liked her for a long time. Ichiko is taken by his expression, but before he does anything, she blurts out that she likes Kanzaki. Tendou turns away and prepares to leave the house, saying he is sorry he troubled her... or perhaps not. After he leaves, Ichiko remembers all the times he was nice to her and realizes he liked her already all those times. Ichiko's popularity as a model seems to increase as girls in the street find her pretty cute. Meanwhile she trains hard at walking the right way in preparation for a show... which is first news to her! Tendou appears in the exercise room and asks her trainer how she's doing. Ichiko is embarrassed and can't make herself look at him in the face. Tendou realizes this and tells her not to worry about him. As she returns to practice she sneaks looks at him and thinks she can feel in her whole body what he feels about her. Afterwards, Ichiko is still thinking about Tendou's declaration and that it's not that she isn't happy but... the one she likes is Kanzaki. Kanzaki himself manages to sneak out of his manager's car and overhears Ichiko singing his song from one of the rooms of the production building. He wonders what she is doing there, and she explains she is training for a fashion show. Kanzaki comments that Tendou seemed to think it a good a idea and Ichiko grows nervous at the mention of his name. Kanzaki tells her that he is sure she can make it. Ichiko hugs him. Tendou returns to the room and overhears them talking. He walks in as she was about to tell him something, asking why Kanzaki is there. He grabs Kanzaki by his shirt and pushes him towards the door, telling him to leave! Kanzaki gets mad as well, but Tendou tells him that he can't make Ichiko happy. Kanzaki ignores this and takes Ichiko's hand, saying they're leaving. However, Ichiko looks back at Tendou, who is looking at them with a serious face, and wonders why he said that. As they walk away, Kanzaki says Tendou makes him really mad. Ichiko tries to tell herself that they will be okay.
Chapter 42 (Mar'2003)
Next day, Ichiko is worried because she doesn't know how to act around Tendou, but he doesn't start any conversation. After her training, she asks Tendou for tickets for the show, telling him they are for her friends. She gets three, one for Chizuru, one for Ken, and one for... She is interrupted by a call from Kanzaki. They meet after work and Kanzaki starts to talk about Tendou, but Ichiko cuts in, giving him the ticket. She notices Kanzaki's dark expression and asks him to continue. Kanzaki lets it pass and they kiss after he tells her he will go for sure. Day of the show comes, and there are many girls who are really happy because they will get to see the cute girl from the ads live. Chizuru meets Ichiko backstage. Meanwhile, Kanzaki has to run away from his manager again... (^^;; ) The show goes really well for Ichiko, although Kanzaki is still a no-show. However the last dress has pearls attached to it, and they come apart while she is on the catwalk, making her slip and fall on her backside! Ichiko is close to tears, but then Kanzaki walks onto the stage and helps her up (guess Tendou's expression). The fans recognize Kanzaki at once as he and Ichiko walk together hand in hand. After the show is over, fans seem to have enjoyed it a lot but some comment on Kanzaki and how it looked like he and the girl were going out for real!
