Note: B/w scans are from the magazine, where the print is in low quality paper and different ink colors so it sometimes scans pretty bad and leaves lots of noise in the picture. The tankoubon quality is, of course, much better (perfect, that is).

Chapter 18 (Jun'2004)
The students at the school aren't too excited about the upcoming festival, since apparently there aren't any interesting events. Riku asks Natori-sensei about allowing Moegi to participate but can't convince her to allow it. Riku gets mad because schools should help students to want to do things and Natori kicks her out of the office. Riku decides she will do it in secret then. After Riku is gone Natori-sensei calls the head teacher and asks him to keep an eye on Riku. Riku helps gather materials in secret for Moegi, who confesses what she wants to do is a dress for everyone to see and also see how hard she has tried up to now. Riku decides to help her. One of the male teachers enters the room to tell Riku the head teacher is outside. He notices Moegi is there. Meanwhile Yuzuru sees Riku and Moegi talking animatedly. Maki (who saw Riku carry the supplies earlier) sees her and tells her that she should go and help if she wants to, but that Riku said she would do it alone and it has nothing to do with them anymore. Yuzuru tells Maki he should make up with Kaede soon. Maki doesn't want to and Yuzuru laughs. He then apologizes for saying those things about her and Kaede earlier. Riku sees them outside laughing and is in shock! (^^; ) How come they are friends now??! Poor Riku depresses and thinks they must hate her now. While helping other students with the preparations, Riku sees Kaede going home. She goes to him and asks why he is leaving since they all agreed to help with the preparations after school. Kaede replies that there is no sense in doing something he doesn't care about, but Riku insists that even so, doing things with everybody is fun. Kaede however is mean to her and Riku is left wondering what she did to make him hate her too. Later that evening Moegi asks Riku if she's okay since she looks sad and Riku confesses about the fight with her friends. Moegi cheers her up and says that they will understand her feelings when they see how much she cares. Riku has a sudden idea and decides to do something. At the male dormitory, Kaede catches Maki when going to take a bath. Maki berates Kaede about not helping with the festival and not caring about anything, then says his grudge against Riku seems different... why? At school Moegi is getting ready to leave and asks Riku if she wants to go with her, but Riku says she wants to stay and work some more. After Moegi leaves, she decides to go to the roof(*) so she can take some measurements. Meanwhile at the dormitory, Kaede laughs at Maki and asks what he means with that. Maki is surprised and asks Kaede seriously if he hasn't realized himself! (Fanservice! ^o^ ) At the roof, Riku takes measurements and wonders if she will be able to finish in time... when she hears a lock turning and sees a shadow behind the only door's glass panel. She goes to the door and tries to open it, but it's closed! She's been locked out and she doesn't even have her cell phone with her. (*: School buildings usually have a plain, empty roof-balcony style roof accessible for the students. It usually has the sides surrounded by a wire fence. (Makes them fun to spot while traveling on an elevated train... ^^;))
Chapter 19 (Jun'2004)
Riku waits outside the locked door in the land of the cold and toilet-less roof. She wonders if a teacher made a mistake and didn't realize she was out there. Riku's father calls Yuzuru wondering if Riku is staying with her. He says that it's almost ten and Riku always calls if she is going to be late. He tried her cell phone but got no answer, so he called her because she and Riku are such good friends. Yuzuru says she will look for her. At the dormitory, Kaede (more fanservice ^^; ) gets a call from Yuzuru. She tells him Riku hasn't arrived home yet and that her father is worried. She says Riku might still be at the school. Kaede gets dressed and goes to Maki's room. He tells him to help him look for Riku. Meanwhile, Yuzuru tells herself how silly she is. Kaede and Maki discover Riku's bag with her cell phone in her office. They split up to look for her inside the building. Riku tells herself that even though she said she would do things alone, being alone is very sad... She yells for Maki and Kaede. Kaede hears her and goes to the roof door. She tells Riku to wait there while he looks for the key, but Riku involuntarily asks him not to go... Kaede puts his hands against hers through the glass and tells her it's okay now and not to worry, he will get her out of there really soon. He then smiles and tells her that even if he can't open the door, he will stay there with her until the morning. Maki interrupts the romantic moment when arriving and throwing a chair against the door (^^;;; ). Riku is scared because Maki is really mad at her and yells at her about what would have happened if they didn't come to look for her but then hugs her and asks her why she suddenly wants to do everything by herself since she has them. Riku wonders if that's fine with him since he hates her. Maki is surprised and tells her it's she who hates him... (^^; ) Riku is relieved that Maki is his usual self. She realizes that even if they fight, they are all still friends. Kaede calls Yuzuru and tells her they found Riku. After he ends the call, he notices somebody (a male teacher?) going down the stairs. Maki tells Riku that it was Yuzuru who called them, and when she looks at her cell phone, she finds several emails from her, the last one saying she is sorry. Riku is very touched and thinks it's her who should be apologizing, so she answers and says she is sorry too. On their way back, the three wonder how much they will have to pay for the broken door. Kaede is about to mention his suspicions, but then stays silent. Maki insists in walking Riku to the station although she doesn't want to cause more trouble, but when Maki grabs her arm, Kaede suddenly grabs his and pushes him away! Maki wonders what's with him, but then falls silent for a moment and decides to run back to the dormitory, giving them an excuse about wanting to watch TV. Riku is worried about Maki, but Kaede tells her to let him walk her to the station. Riku is quite confused now.
Chapter 20 (Jul'2004)
The following day, Riku is busy sewing something and pondering over the last night. She thinks Kaede was very different from his usual self, and that she didn't know what to talk about on the way to the station, so she just looked at him. And she also throws some insults at Maki for leaving on his own. Maki and Kaede arrive at her office just then. Riku thanks them again, Maki gets between her and Kaede and asks what she was doing anyway. Riku explains she is making a banner to hang on the side of the building (they are very popular in Japan and you usually see them to announce offers in department stores). Nao arrives and catches Yuzuru standing outside the office door. She asks if she can help too, and she and Riku make up. Nao comments Maki looks jealous... Kyoutou-sensei catches up with Maki and demands to know about the damaged door. Kaede appears and whispers in his ear that he saw him running away the night before. He then says aloud that it was to help Riku so they should all probably forget about it since it was an accident. Kyouto-sensei decides to let it pass and Maki thanks Kaede for his help. During the festival, everybody is bored out of their minds. Riku makes a surprise announcement through the speakers and asks everybody to enjoy themselves. She also tells them to go to her office to see a special display. Nao's dresses are on display there! Young Nakamura-sensei appears and Nao thanks him for being there. She says it's thanks to him that she was able to do her best. Riku sees this and guesses Nao likes him. On the roof, the students are writing random things on the school banner. Riku notices there is a spelling mistake on the name of the school (^^; ) and goes to look for something to fix it with. Maki goes after her, and Yuzuru asks Kaede if it's ok for him not to go as well. In a classroom, Maki helps Riku get something from a high shelf. Riku is surprised because she thought they were about the same height (and because he was really close). She comments that he has grown some. She is envious because she stopped growing already. Maki jokes that it's because she's little, and she gets a bit mad and says so is he! Maki seems to get mad as well and Riku regrets her words. He ironically excuses himself for not being tall and wonders why girls always prefer the tall guys. Riku tries to mend things and tells him that it's just a matter of tastes, and that perhaps he will grow even taller. She says she is sorry she said it. Maki blushes and tells her it's nothing. And as she is about to leave the room, he says there is something he wants to tell her after the festival ends.
Chapter 21 (Jul'2004)
Riku tells Moegi and Yuzuru about Maki's words. Moegi says that sounds like he wants to do a love confession. Riku is taken aback by this and says there is no way, but Yuzuru asks her why not, does she hate Maki? Riku thinks that it's not that he hates him, but it's so sudden... Later, young teacher Nakamura visits Moegi alone in the dresses' room. She confesses that ever since he cheered her in her designing dreams while a first year, she has liked him. However Nakamura refuses her affections. Kaede, Maki and Riku had been listening on the outside, so when Nakamura leaves, Riku follows him and convinces him to follow his heart. Nakamura then returns to Moegi and asks her to wait half a year for him (a.k.a. to wait until she has graduated and they no longer have a student/teacher relationship). Later after the festivities have ended. Maki stops Riku and takes her to the side, reminding her he wanted to talk to her about something... Poor Riku is scared because she hasn't made up her mind yet!
