Part 05.
[version 1.0]

Kojirou stands in front of the ship with his blade at Maria's throat while everybody else looks in disbelief. One of the sailors turns to Captain Luis looking for advice...
But there is little he can do, and the ship takes off as Martin cries and calls for his sister... (;_;)

Onboard, one of the sailors asks Captain Luis very worried if they are really going to Japan, Luis, apparently coolly, replies that Kojirou is also a human being, so he will eventually fall asleep and then they'll catch him.
The sailor doesn't sound very convinced of this, but Luis replies with a scheming look in his eyes that "tomorrow it'll be resolved."

Antonio, also in the ship, tries reasoning with Kojirou, he begs him to take him as hostage and release Maria. Maria, half crying, is impressed at this, but Kojirou says "no way" and that's the end of it.
As Antonio keeps on trying, Maria sees the coast getting farther and farther away.... The shore... we are going away so fast from it.... Her expression turns more and more desperate and she starts to cry.

Kojirou notices this and has a sad and worried face. "I'm sorry, Maria," he says and tries to tell her that he won't hurt her--
"Idiot!" shouts Maria with tears running down her cheeks. "I came to believe that Kojirou was a good person!!"

Kojirou tries to explain her but Maria just looks down, sick. "You cheated us.... You used us...."
His eyes seem to soften as Maria reminds him (and herself) how they helped him.
"There is a business in Japan I must settle--about who tried to kill me."

Maria tries to look at him, very surprised--and worried. "What...? What are you planning to do in Japan!? What?!"
But Kojirou just looks on, silent. And Maria looks at him with sweat running down her forehead. And about that... Kojirou kept his mouth shut.

"Bread and water." Antonio puts a bundle and a bottle on the floor in front of Kojirou and Maria (they are sitting on the bridge). He tells him to make Maria eat some of it, and then walks away, worried.
Kojirou takes the food and tries to give the bread to Maria (sitting on his lap), but she just looks down with a kind-of detached look and refuses it. Kojirou tells her she must eat it to stay healthy, but Maria tells him with no walk-arounds that she won't eat until he tells her what he is planning on doing in Japan. Kojirou looks like he's cornered. :(

So he starts telling Maria about his twin brother (to which she is rather surprised), about Hasekura--who is a servant of his twin. Maria can't quite believe it, but Kojirou explains that his twin is the heir of the Date House (Dateke) and that he, Kojirou, is an unpleasant sight... Kojirou starts getting more and more agitated. "He is not my brother. And father also thinks of me...!"
Kojirou has a flashback of his father and he narrows his eyes (in pain?).

Maria tries to say something, but he goes back to his closed-up mood and tells her to eat. Maria can't help keep on thinking about this and about the treachery...
Antonio sighs looking at them, worried for Maria when Captain Luis appears and tells him to go inside.
"But...."
Captain Luis leans towards him. "At best, it'll be solved tomorrow."
But Antonio just doesn't look all that sure. He goes to Kojirou and Maria and gives him a blanket for covering her (she is sleeping). He begs him not to hurt Maria. "Maria is my treasure. I beg you!"
Kojirou's expression is blank.

Days later, the sailors are seriously impressed about the Japanese guy... it's been 4 days already and he has yet to fall asleep! (^^;;; ) Captain Luis doesn't seem to think all that much of it (And you wouldn't, either, if you could see how Kojirou looks by now ^^; )
But night falls and Maria wakes up to find that... Kojirou is sleeping! And in front of her, several sailors and Antonio are approaching the bridge...

But! One of the tables of the floor creaks when a sailor steps on it, waking up Kojirou! Captain Luis orders them to catch him, but as Kojirou prepares to defend himself there is a sudden disruption, and when Captain Luis turns to look what it is... it's a pirate's ship!

The pirates board Captain Luis' ship and start to fight with the crew. From the bridge, Kojirou and Maria watch the bloodshed and poor Maria, who is seeing something like this for the first time ever, is totally horrified.
And for making things worse, one of the pirates notices her and tries to grab her, yelling, "A woman!!"

But when he's about to touch her, Kojirou shields her and slits the man's throat open. He then tries to take her away, but Antonio is being attacked on a side by a man trying to cut his pretty head.... So there goes Kojirou to the rescue! [Yeaaah! ^o^ ]
He jumps over the bridge's baranda and makes filets out of the pirate's shoulder.

By now, the other pirates have noticed Kojirou and attack en masse, but Kojirou puts on the cool face and slices them like butter in a question of seconds.
Antonio realizes that now Maria is free and runs to her as Kojirou stands between the bodies, sweating and with blood dripping down his sword.

"Great skills. I say my gratitude."
Captain Luis stands behind Kojirou aiming at Kojirou's head with his firearm.
