Part 08.
[version 1.1]

"Waaahh....! This is Japan!!"
Maria and the sailors look around in wonder as the people of the village look at them in... surprise [or however you would look at a group of unmannered, giant human-beings (barely) stomping through your town... ^^; ].
Kojirou is leading them, but Maria realizes that he doesn't look too happy. Just then a horse runs towards them and somebody calls for Kojirou, it's a young boy.

Kojirou's expression changes instantly as the young boy jumps off the horse and kneels in front of him with perfect timing (^^). "Welcome home, Kojirou-dono!!"

The boy looks very excited and wonders why the trip took so little time. Kojirou replies that he returned alone. The young boy says he will order for a palanquin, but Kojirou stops him....
Maria asks if the boy is a friend of Kojirou, and Kojirou presents him as his foster-brother Tomonoshin. Maria tries her (broken) Japanese with him and presents herself.... (^^)

They arrive at the family house and the sailors and Maria are very impressed by it. Kojirou asks Tomonoshin where his older brother (older twin) is, he is out with Lord Munetada and their father is in Edo (Tokyo).
Kojirou is taken out of his thoughts by Tomonoshin's mother, welcoming there. He presents her as his nurse, Yuugao-dono.

She comments on how cute Maria is, and Maria presents herself (more successfully this time ^^ ).
"Maria is my betrothed."
Yuugao-dono is very impressed. "My!! Is that true?!"
Maria wonders what he said and asks him. "Betrothed ?"
Kojirou blushes slightly. "Betrothed."
Maria goes to the 7th heaven. Bethroded!! That... that... Happiness~~~!!

Yuugao-dono invites them in and leads them through the house. Kojirou has to warn the sailors to be careful with the low door frames.... (^^; ). As Yuugao is taking Maria aside with womanly indecent intentions on her mind, she spots a man in the hall and starts sweating, but then she is diverted by Kojirou and the others. The man looks at them with no expression on his face.

Time later, they are treated to a Japanese lunch with the usual results, ["Where is the knife and the foo~~rk?"], even though Captain Luis, understandably, has no problem with the chopsticks.

Kojirou looks around and wonders where Maria is. Right then, she calls him from behind... She is wearing a western-style dress and looks really pretty!
Kojirous is very surprised and impressed as the sailors and Tomonoshin comment on how pretty she looks.
Maria is very happy and goes to Kojirou, asking him about this dress and how she was dressing when she met him for the first time... but Kojirou's blood obviously emptied his brain.... (^^; ) "...ty." He looks to a side, frowning.
"Eh? What did you say? I couldn't hear it."
"YOU LOOK VERY PRETTY!!"
Maria is surprised at this as Kojirou compliments her, telling her she was also very pretty then, too. Maria is so happy that she thanks him and kisses him on the cheek! (^^) Poor Kojirou (blushing) spanks her verbally because you don't do that kind of thing in Japan. (^^)

After some time, most of the sailors are happily drunk and sleeping around the room. Kojirou notices that Maria is also sleeping, leaning against him and wonders if she drank any sake....
At his side, Tomonoshin suddenly falls asleep, and when he looks around, even Captain Luis is down... "What's hap.... It... can't b... be...."
But it's too late, and as he also starts to feel drowsy, we see the one man looking at them before from the hall, smiling.

As outside night closes on them, the sailors wake up Captain Luis... they have been locked in a jail! Neither Kojirou no Maria are with them, and Captain Luis looks angry and worried....

Elswhere, Kojirou wakes up in a jail too, along with Tomonoshin and Yuugao. The man from before appears and Kojirou tells him to let Tomonoshin and Yuugao free, since it's him who they want.
But the man says that he must also keep Kojirou's supporters jailed, those are the orders from Lord Munetada.
Tomonoshin is surprised at that, "Lord Munetada!?"
Kojirou shouts at him to let him talk with Munetada, and the man agrees. He then asks if Maria is all right, and the man just says that "of course," she will be treated with all courtesy....

A man walks through the house and arrives at a room, in which Maria is lying unconscious, still wearing the pretty dress. As the man kneels at her side and is about to touch her, she opens her eyes wide.
"Ah..." She looks at her side. "Kojirou..."
The man kneeling at her side looks exactly like Kojirou and Maria starts telling him that she fell asleep and had a strange dream, in it she was looking around for him, and looking, and looking... it was scary. Maria leans against the man, and he is obviously very surprised at this.

"You are... Kojirou's woman."

Maria opens her eyes wide in surprise, since "Kojirou" just spoke in Japanese. She pushes herself back, confused, but the man just looks at her and touches her face.
This person... This person is not Kojirou!!
But oblivious to her worried face, the man just comments on how good she looks and how Munetada didn't make a misjudgment...
Maria sees the danger in the man's eyes and tries to break free, but he just grabs her wrist and leans towards her.

"What is Kojirou's, is mine..."

["-dono" is a very polite name sufix.]
