Note: B/w scans are from the magazine, where the print is in low quality paper and different ink colors so it sometimes scans pretty bad and leaves lots of noise in the picture. The tankoubon quality is, of course, much better (perfect, that is).

Chapter 15 (Mar'2003) [ vol.03 ]
Note: Dark haired Hanzou (our main character in this story) = Hanzou. Blonde Hanzou (main character of Tsuki no Toiki, Ai no Kizu) = Hanzou II. Yukimaru is suffering because he hates women. To make matters worse, Ieyasu makes Usagi sleep in the same room as Yukimaru because he wants them to become friends. Meanwhile, poor Mamezou asks to sleep with Hanzou and tells him that he misses Usagi a lot and is worried because she has never been on her own before. Hanzou tells him that he will teach him how to write so he can send her a letter. Yukimaru tries making a wall between their futons with a curtain while poor Usagi wonders why everybody keeps mistaking her for a boy (Yuuri did as well). During the night however, she gets scared by strange shadows in the ceiling, so he goes to Yukimaru's futon and spoons him, saying she can't sleep if she is not hugging someone! (poor Yukimaru... ^^; ) Next morning, Hanzou Sr. arrives to find them together in bed (poor man...), but while Yukimaru complains in horror, he notices his voice has changed! Usagi says that's lucky since now nobody will confuse him with a girl! Poor Yukimaru is not happy about this at all! As they go for breakfast, some of the castle staff ask him if Usagi is his new lover, which he denies in horror. The men are surprised he is even talking with a woman... At breakfast Ieyasu instructs Usagi on her new duty: tasting Ieyasu's food before him to detect poison. Usagi says she can't do that because once she starts eating, she can't stop... (^^;;; ) Usagi gets homesick and asks when she will be able to return, but Ieyasu says she must stay... forever. After Usagi's explosion of anger, Ieyasu says that she can also return if she makes a medicine for eternal youth... a medicine that will make a person immortal. Ieyasu says that if Usagi and Yukimaru work together, he is sure they will come up with something. At sleep time, Yukimaru gives Usagi a "hugging pillow" (rolled up blanket) he made for her. Usagi draws Hanzou's face on it (or what passes for it... ^^; ) and tells Yukimaru Hanzou is the person she likes best. Usagi thinks she must try her best so she can return as soon as possible! Next day, a very determined Usagi asks around, and one of the men tells her that legend says mermaid flesh will make you immortal. Usagi doesn't know what a mermaid is, so he explains it to her and tells her they live in the sea. As she runs out, one of the men comments on how it looks like Usagi believed it, and the other laughs at it thinking no one would believe that. Of course, Usagi believed it (^^;;; ). She arrives to the coast while Yukimaru follows her. It's the first time she ever sees the sea, and is convinced that she will find mermaids in such a wonderful place! Meanwhile, Hanzou assists Mamezou in writing a letter. He happily asks Hanzou if she also likes Usagi, and Hanzou smiles and says he does!
Chapter 16 (Apr'2003) [ vol.03 ]
Note: Dark haired Hanzou (our main character in this story) = Hanzou. Blonde Hanzou (main character of Tsuki no Toiki, Ai no Kizu) = Hanzou II. beta version Hanzou writes a letter to Usagi. Meanwhile, Usagi keeps on looking for a mermaid and gets stuck in a rock away from the beach. She tries to swim, but Yukimaru ends up having to help her and tells her the truth about mermaids. Usagi is depressed because this way she won't be able to return to Hanzou. At Hanzou's, Mamezou is getting bored so Hanzou gives him a dog to take care of... except that Mamezou is scared of dogs! Afterwards, two of Hanzou's staff ask him to help name their new baby. Hanzou II and Sara appear and tell Hanzou that Sara is pregnant. It seems every woman around is also pregnant... (^^; ). Hanzou starts to get mad and they all wonder why he is single... Hanzou asks Goemon to take his and Mamezou's letter to Usagi, and of course he reads it on his way. Meanwhile, Hanzou Sr.'s wife is feeling much better. Usagi tells them about her dead mother. She is determined to make an eternal-youth medicine because she wants to return home. During the night, Goemon arrives and mistakes Yukimaru for Usagi (^^; ). Usagi is really happy to see him and can't stop talking about Hanzou, so Goemon tells her to give up on him because he doesn't feel anything for her. He leaves without giving her the letters. While Yukimaru explains about the night visitor to Hanzou Sr., Usagi is thinking about what Goemon just said. Goemon returns and covers up the fact he didn't deliver the letters by telling Hanzou there was no return letter from Usagi, so Hanzou gets really angry. Meanwhile, Usagi stays in bed, pondering about love and hitting an all-time low.
Chapter 17 (Apr'2003) [ vol.03 ]
Note: Dark haired Hanzou (our main character in this story) = Hanzou. Blonde Hanzou (main character of Tsuki no Toiki, Ai no Kizu) = Hanzou II. Hanzou Sr. = Blonde Hanzou's father. A little Usagi puts her ear next to her mother's pregnant belly trying to listen to her new little brother or sister. Her mother tells her that now that she is going to become an older sister, she has to be responsible. Now her mother is laying down in obvious pain... it's been three days and the baby still hasn't come out. Usagi decides to take Goemon out to get some herbs so her mom can get better, but when she returns, her mother's face is covered with a fabric... she and the baby have died. Now Usagi's father is burring her mother. Usagi cries and tells him not to bury mom... Usagi wakes up screaming for her mother. Usagi apologizes for scaring Yukimaru and thinks that it had been a long time since she had that type of dream. Yukimaru decides it's time for him to take the stitches out of Usagi's forehead wound and Hanzou Sr. (as usual ^^ ) walks in on them in this seemingly compromising position. Hanzou Sr. wonders how come Yukimaru can get so close to Usagi since he has his women allergy/hatred, but Yukimaru says that he really doesn't think of Usagi as a woman (he blushes all the same, though!). Meanwhile, Mamezou asks Goemon to deliver another letter to Usagi. Goemon agrees and leaves while Hanzou tries to show Mamezou how to train his new little dog. At that moment, they get a new visitor, Yuuri's twin sister, Yuuna! Yuuna is so pretty and wonderful that her brightness blinds... They have brought her to be Hanzou's new bride, but when she sees him yelling at the poor dog... well, that was it. Hanzou II tells Hanzou's servants not to worry about Hanzou's lack of involvement with women. At Hanzou Sr.'s place, Usagi has discovered that because his problem with women, Yukimaru hasn't treated a single one in the whole town! So now the poor girl is dragged all over the place... Goemon sees this and tears apart Mamezou's letter in anger. When Usagi returns to the castle, she confronts Yukimaru about all the sick females. They are interrupted by Hanzou Sr., who delivers the bad news that Yukimaru's mother is very sick and his older brother has come to take him to see her. However Yukimaru says he is not going, and Usagi tries to make him go... eventually she stumbles and falls over him, cutting his lip with her teeth. This is too close for the poor boy and he faints. Hanzou Sr. cunningly uses the opportunity to take him to his brother... To Usagi's surprise, his brother doesn't look anything like him! Hanzou Sr. sends Usagi with them to make sure Yukimaru sees his mother. On the way there, Usagi wonders if Yukimaru's hatred of woman has been there since he was little. His brother, Raimaru, answers that it hasn't. He used to be fine with them since they all thought he was so cute, but something happened one day that made him start hating all women and made him leave the house. Usagi wonders what could have happened... Usagi asks what the problem with their mother is, and Raimaru says that she is having problems delivering. Usagi says they must hurry up then. Meanwhile, Hanzou II has managed to drag Hanzou to Okazaki Street (a red-light district) by telling him there is a job for him there. All women drool at Hanzou although he seems utterly unaware of it. Hanzou II finally tells him they came here to play, and Hanzou gets really angry. Hanzou says he is leaving, while Hanzou II asks him to stay. Hanzou then gets even angrier and asks him why he is there, given he is going to be a father! Their fight is interrupted by some nasty man giving one of the girls a hard time, so Hanzou saves the day. He refuses the woman's thanks and starts to leave. Hanzou II starts to wonder if he just doesn't like women. Hanzou asks what he is insinuating, and Hanzou II wonders what kind of girl does he want, given he doesn't like the ones now, he left Usagi at the castle, etc.. Hanzou says that he wants a strong, clever girl (Hanzou II is very fast to tell him he can't have Sara ^^; ). Hanzou says that although he thought somebody like Sara would be the perfect wife, lately he has been changing his mind a little... Usagi and Co. finally arrive to Yukimaru's mother's house, a brothel in Okazaki. Usagi doesn't really understand the word (brothel), but Yukimaru happens to wake up then and all hell breaks loose! Yukimaru tries to run away, Usagi jumps (literally) on him, telling him he has to stay because his mother is very sick. Suddenly someone calls her name... Hanzou! Usagi starts to go towards him, but Yukimaru sneaks away, so she has to go back to catch him and stay on top of him while attempting to say there is an explanation for all this over Yukimaru's screams and Hanzou's mounting anger!
