Note: B/w scans are from the magazine, where the print is in low quality paper and different ink colors so it sometimes scans pretty bad and leaves lots of noise in the picture. The tankoubon quality is, of course, much better (perfect, that is).

Chapter 36 (Mar'2004)
Note: Dark haired Hanzou (our main character in this story) = Hanzou. Blonde Hanzou (main character of Tsuki no Toiki, Ai no Kizu) = Hanzou II. Hanzou Sr. = Blonde Hanzou's father. Usagi begs Hikaru to put them down and agrees to make the poison. Hikaru lowers Mamezou and shackles his leg to Usagi's, but says he won't lower Goemon until she finishes. Goemon tries to tell Usagi not to listen to what Hikaru says. A very, very upset Usagi works on the poison while remembering some of her bad experiences with herbs when while was little. Meanwhile, Hanzou's sister also beats into him the "go marry and make children with Usagi" mantra. Back at Usagi's, Hikaru's monkey makes friends with Goemon and tries to free him, but Hikaru stops him and starts having fun with torturing Goemon. Usagi runs in and begs Hikaru to stop. He takes a bottle she was carrying and asks if it's the poison and she says it is, so to let Goemon go. But instead Hikaru makes Goemon drink the potion, to Usagi's horror!
Chapter 37 (Mar'2004)
Note: Dark haired Hanzou (our main character in this story) = Hanzou. Blonde Hanzou (main character of Tsuki no Toiki, Ai no Kizu) = Hanzou II. Hanzou Sr. = Blonde Hanzou's father. After Goemon drops to the floor, Hikaru attempts to kill Usagi, but Goemon pushes her out of the way! Goemon grabs Usagi and Mamezou and starts to run away. Usagi explains to Mamezou that what she made was an "fake death" medicine. However they don't get too far because Goemon's leg breaks down. Usagi refuses to leave without him and Hikaru catches up. Thankfully a big man appears and stops him, ordering him not to touch the people from Iga. Hikaru complains it was orders from "the master" and the man says he'll fix things up with his elder brother later. After Hikaru has left, the man introduces himself as SHINOYAMA Rihei, the second lord in the house (not sure how to translate the title, sorry). He apologizes for Hikaru's behavior and makes them comfortable. He starts to explains the problems between the three families Momochi, Hattori and Fujibayashi but Usagi realizes Goemon is running a very high fever. Rihei leaves to find some herbs Usagi needs and Goemon and Usagi have a small childhood friends bonding moment. Meanwhile, Hattori realizes Suzune's kids are playing with a shuuriken that's not of the Iga ninja type... In Kouka, Goemon is feeling better and wants to run away as soon as possible. As they hide from someone entering the room, Usagi realizes it's Suzune! But the woman doesn't recognize Usagi at all. In that moment Rihei reappears and he and the woman embrace. He calls her Kotone. Usagi is in total shock!
Chapter 38 (Apr'2004)
Note: Dark haired Hanzou (our main character in this story) = Hanzou. Blonde Hanzou (main character of Tsuki no Toiki, Ai no Kizu) = Hanzou II. Hanzou Sr. = Blonde Hanzou's father. Rihei introduces Suzune as "Kotone", his wife! Usagi wonders what's going on, but Kotone hugs Rihei and tries to signal Usagi to shut up. Goemon gets the message and stops Usagi. Meanwhile, Kotone tells Rihei that the kids are with her little brother and after much flirting, Rihei leaves the room and Usagi is convinced this is after all, another person who looks just like Suzune. But as soon as Rihei is out of the door, Kotone turns into Suzune and spanks Usagi for coming to Kouga against her advice. Meanwhile, Hanzou is on his way to Kouga and finds Mamezou's little puppy. Rihei talks with his brother about sparing the Iga people. His brother tells him he has become weak after he met "that girl from the capital" (Kotone/Suzune). Rihei leaves saying Goemon and the girl will return to Iga. The Kouga lord calls for Hikaru and demands to know why he didn't "clean up" the Usagi and Goemon problem, since now there will be problems with the Iga and maybe Nobunaga. Usagi treats Goemon. Suzune explains that she married Rihei eight years ago to learn things about the Kouga. Usagi doesn't believe Kouga are their enemy, but Suzune says they are, because they are connected to Oda Nobunaga. Suzune tells Usagi to worry only about getting out of there and returning to Iga. She shows them a secret passage they can use to escape, but she won't go with them. Usagi tells Suzune that she now gets it, Suzune loves Rihei, so she won't leave. Suzune blushes and kicks her out (^^). As they crawl away, Usagi ponders about how happy Suzune seems with Rihei and when will she and Hanzou look like that. But then she notices Goemon is still having problems because of the wounds. Just as they get outside the building and prepare to run for it, they realize Hikaru was waiting for them. Goemon tries to fight him, but he is too weak and Hikaru hurts him very seriously. Usagi tries to protect him as Hikaru is about to give the final blow, but... Hanzou jumps on top of him!
Chapter 39 (Apr'2004)
Note: Dark haired Hanzou (our main character in this story) = Hanzou. Blonde Hanzou (main character of Tsuki no Toiki, Ai no Kizu) = Hanzou II. Hanzou Sr. = Blonde Hanzou's father. Hanzou tells Usagi to look away, as he prepares to cut Hikaru's throat, but Goemon pleads for Hikaru's life and says Hikaru is his friend. Usagi tries desperately to stop Goemon's severe bleeding. Rihei discovers the trail of hurt people Hanzou left on his way to Usagi and demands to know what's going on. Usagi tells them they must take Goemon inside, and in that moment, Kotone appears and sees Hanzou. Inside, Usagi treats Goemon as fast as she can while Mamezou and Hanzou try to help her. Sasuke the monkey appears with Usagi's medicines. Hanzou talks with Rihei and Kouga Lord, who apologizes and blames it all on a tied up Hikaru. Hanzou says nothing will happen now, but next time they touch his fiancee, there will be hell to pay. Rihei and his brother are shocked that the "medicine girl" is his fiancee. Kouga Lord decides that he will kill Hikaru in front of Hanzou the following day, to appease Hanzou and protect Kouga. After both Mamezou and Goemon are sleeping, Hanzou tells Usagi to rest as well. Usagi tells him she must stay up all night because if something happened with Goemon, he might not be able to make it. Usagi is very worried and says that it was the first time she did a surgical operation, and if she did something wrong... Hanzou hugs her and tells her she did all she could, and it's now time for Goemon to heal himself. Usagi tells Hanzou that when she is with him, it feels as if she has returned home. Hanzou says that her home is wherever he is. Usagi falls asleep in his arms very happy. Suzune enters the room and helps Hanzou put Usagi to sleep on a nearby futon. As they are calling each other several names, Rihei enters the room and announces Hikaru has disappeared. In that same moment, an explosion rocks the building!
