Act 9 (Oct'2002)
Translation Available. Ayu stares into space as she wonders when did Nina start to like Kaji. Nina shakes her out of her stupor and and asks what she was thinking about, with that serious expression on her face. Ayu evades the question and is interrumpted by one of her friends, who asks if it's true that she and Kirishima (Yuta) are going out! Ayu asks where on Earth she heard that, and denies the Asakusa outing was a real date. The girl says that even if it's not true, the rummor is now everywhere... Ayu goes off to find Yuta, who asks if she got around to take Kaji's pic. Ayu says she hasn't yet (and she forgot to bring the camera that day, too...). Yuta spanks her and Ayu starts to say that she was also confused because of Nina's... Ayu shuts up just in time and thinks that she can't tell Yuta because he likes Nina, and knowing Nina's feelings would hurt him. Poor Ayu feels totally frustrated, there is nobody she can talk to about the whole mess!! Ayu remembers the reason she looked for him, and tells him that there are rumors about them two going out, so he can deny it if anybody asks him. Yuta happily replies that it was him who started the rumors! (^^;;; ) Ayu wants to bite his head off, but Yuta replies that if everybody says it, then maybe she will get used to the idea, too! Ayu says that she knows he likes Nina the best, so she wouldn't go out with him anyway. However Yuta takes her hand and says that he has given up on Nina and that Ayu is his current favorite second so... Ayu warily looks at him. "NO WAY." Kaji appears and Ayu snatches her hand back. Kaji smiles and wonders if their relationship is true (Yuta, "Of course! *heart mark*" Ayu, "N... NOOO!"). Ayu tells Kaji not to believe Yuta but Kaji has already walked off, to Ayu's horror. She then turns to Yuta... "I'll kill you." Kaji looks back at them and frowns, obviously not liking what he has seen. Nina and Kaji talk in the stairs. Kaji asks Nina about Yuta, since he knows he is a childhood friend of hers. He asks if it's true that he and Ayu are going out. Poor Nina wonders if he minds about it. Kaji explains that back when he decided to be a cool guy, he started walking back with a girl he started to like. The girl said that he was really cool, and because of that, he kept up the pretense and worked harder at becoming cooler. Nina asks if that girl is Ayu. There is a flashback to a slightly younger Ayu and Kaji having said conversation and Nina exclaims that then the girl Kaji likes is Ayu! Kaji sweats a little, and then tells her not to say it like that because it's embarrassing... Nina smiles really happy at this!! Nina then asks why he told Akiho that Ayu wasn't the girl he likes, and Kaji replies that he didn't want her to feel bad... And about Yuta and Ayu? Nina smiles and tells Kaji not to worry because they aren't going out. Nina tells him that Ayu likes him too. Kaji is surprised and says that when Ayu is with Yuta or Tsujiai, she always seems more animated than when she is with him. Nina answers that well, it's because Kaji is supposed to be cool, right? Nina tells Kaji to hurry up and confess. He smiles and thanks her. Nina talks with Rio-cat and he thinks it's really good that things are finally solved between them. Nina happily agrees and hugs him. She remembers Kaji's face and falls silent and a little sad. "Yes, it's good." Poor Ayu is still depressed about the Kaji-Yuta incident. Nina asks her to return home with her that day and then asks what would she do if Kaji turned out to be different than what she knows. Ayu says that it wouldn't really matter, and Nina happily goes away after asking Ayu to wait for her after classes. Ayu goes to her classroom to wait for Nina, but instead finds Kaji alone, waiting for her. Kaji explains that Nina asked Ayu to go there for his sake, because he has something to tell her. Kaji tells Ayu that he has liked her since the first year, and asks her to go out with him! Ayu is very surprised and can't believe this is happening! But suddenly she remembers Kaji's words about Nina helping him set her up for the meeting. Ayu thinks that even though Nina also likes Kaji, she has always tried to help her get him... and this will hurt a lot. So Ayu, very upset, tells Kaji, no. (*) Nina sees Kaji coming alone and wonders why Ayu isn't with him. Did something happen? Kaji taps her forehead (^^;; ) and as poor Nina cries like a baby (^^;;; ), he tells her she is a liar. Nina demands to know why he says that, and he answers that Ayu told him "no." Poor Nina wonders why Ayu did that! (*: In Japan, when one says no to a boy/girl who just asked one out, one says "gomenasai" (lit. "I'm sorry").)
Act 10 (Nov'2002)
Translation Available. Nina guesses something wrong must have happened and goes to talk to Ayu after making Kaji promise he will wait there. Nina confronts Ayu and Ayu says that she did it because Nina also likes Kaji. Nina wonders why she says this, and Ayu tells her about the photo camera, poor Nina is in shock! She says she is not sure about her feelings, but then spanks Ayu and convinces her that whatever feelings she might have for Kaji (if any) are unimportant and that Ayu's happiness is much more important for her. Ayu goes to talk to Kaji and Nina cheers her off with a big smile, but after Ayu leaves... Ayu catches up with Kaji and explains that she refused him because of a very dear friend, but that she really likes him... He hugs her and says that he understands. Back in the classroom, Nina sees this through magical soap bubbles (the ones you blow) and is happy for Ayu. Tsujiai happens to walk by the door and sees Nina with a sad face. Next day, the rumor about Ayu and Kaji is all over the school! Everybody thinks they are really suited, and even Kaji breaks his rule and tells Akiho not to bother waiting for him to break up with Ayu. Ayu is really happy. Yuta and Nina talk about the new couple and Yuta is depressed because he now has to look for another girl... (^^; ) Nina asks about them doing that one thing they used to do... hanging in mid-air high over the city! Yuta wonders if Nina won't be lonely now that Ayu has a boyfriend and that he has noticed lately she is not as lively as she used to be... Nina just says she is really sleepy and tired, and falls asleep. Yuta looks at her with a really serious and caring expression on his face and tells her to get better fast. Kaji and Tsujiai talk about Ayu, and Tsujiai has to tell Kaji several times that he is not interested in Ayu (Kaji remembers Tsujiai's actions in a past episode, after he ate a "love candy" from Nina and seemingly fell in love over Ayu). Kaji asks Tsujiai if there is any girl he likes and he replies that not really but... before, he happened to see Nina as she made soap bubbles about to cry... and he thought she was cute. Kaji is shocked and a little angry at Tsujiai's easygoing attitude and Tsujiai wonders why he is so mad.
